- Allows students to develop a hands on understanding of the various properties of matter
- Extensive experiments provide students with visually learning about properties such as density, melting point, boiling point, smell, color and solubility
- Further experiments allow students to learn about chemical properties and perform tests to identify substances based on observed reactions
- Gives students a chance to develop invaluable experience working witin groups toward a common creative learning objective
- Includes enough supplies for 10 groups of students!
The activities in this kit focus on developing a better understanding of what is matter and what the different types of properties are. Students perform a series of experiments focusing on the physical properties of density, smell, color, melting point, boiling point and solubility. Other experiments focus on chemical properties in which students perform a series of reactions as they try and identify an unknown solution. Kit contains enough material for 10 groups.Teacher's Manual and Student Study Guide copymasters are included. Kit Includes: 10 x 10 mL 0.1M Cupric Sulfate, 10 x 10 mL 1.0N Ammonium Hydroxide, 10 x 10 mL 1.0N Acetic Acid, 10 x 10 mL 0.1N Sodium Hydroxide, 10 x 10 mL 0.1N Hydrochloric Acid, 10 x 3 mL Unknown, 10 x 10 mL 0.1N Sodium Carbonate, 30 g Sodium Chloride, 30 g Calcium Chloride, 30 g Dextrose, 30 g Sand, 30 g Talc Powder, 10 x 5 g Zinc Sample, 10 x 5 g Copper Sample, 10 x 2 g Aluminum Sample, 10 x 2 g Glass Sample, 1 pack pH Strips, 10 Preprinted Acetate Sheets, 10 Thermometers
